''Erasmus+ have the power to change young people's lives''
The motto, «changing lives, opening minds» is more than just a phrase; it’s a reflection of the real-world impact these programs have on young people every day.
We talk with Mrtchedlidze, Sustainability Specialist at TBC Bank, former Expert at the Erasmus+ National Office in Georgia and Young Ambassador of Georgia
More Opportunities, More Horizons
Through new knowledge and practical experiences, they gain a strong foundation for their personal and professional development. They also acquire valuable skills, such as intercultural communication, problem-solving, and adaptability, which are essential for success in a globalized world. Moreover, these programs help young people build a global network of friends and professional contacts, which can lead to future collaborations and opportunities. By stepping out of their comfort zone and navigating a new environment, they also experience a significant boost in confidence and self-awareness, empowering them to improve their own lives and become changemakers in their communities.
Inside Erasmus+
The practical traineeship I completed through Erasmus+ was a direct stepping stone into my professional life. The specific skills I acquired led me to a job at the Erasmus+ National Office in Georgia, where I now have the privilege of supporting other young people on their own journeys. This shows that these programs can be a powerful launchpad for a career, not just a temporary experience.
- By bringing young people from different countries together, these programs challenge stereotypes and humanize the "other." Participants learn to appreciate cultural differences and discover shared values and goals. This direct, personal contact helps to build trust and empathy, which are essential for de-escalating tensions. They can act as informal ambassadors for their countries and build lasting networks that can influence future cooperation.
Some people don't prioritize sustainability and environmental issues, which is a common problem in many organizations. This is precisely why my role exists—to increase awareness not only among employees but also with our customers. My goal is to help everyone understand that these issues are not just a company policy, but a shared responsibility that benefits everyone in the long run.
TBC Bank - Environmental Sustainability
''It's often hard to tell the difference between a company's genuine commitment and empty marketing claims.''
Green Business & Economy
The future of business and the economy is one where sustainability is no longer a separate initiative but is fully integrated into every aspect of a company’s operations. This shift is crucial for long-term survival and success.
We will see a major push for more green lending initiatives, with financial institutions playing a leading role in promoting green financing among customers. Banks must create more incentives for clients to support sustainable projects, such as those focused on energy efficiency and renewable energy. This will not only drive sustainable choices but also create new, profitable business opportunities
''My message to EU leaders, on behalf of my generation, would be to take more action.''
''Georgian young people are more pro-European than many European countries.''
This is supported by various studies conducted in Georgia, which show that nearly 85-90% of Georgian youth strongly support European integration.
On the other hand, I would like many EU countries to realize how much they benefit from our potential accession. I believe we can contribute to the EU’s priorities and help make it stronger. Especially given the EU’s motto, «United in Diversity,» Georgia can contribute significantly with its unique culture, history, language, cuisine, beautiful nature, hospitable people, and much more.
Georgian young people are talented and successful in their careers wherever they go. Many Georgian scientists contribute to common goals, and numerous successful Georgian athletes excel in various sports, contributing greatly to the success of many European countries. There are many fields in which we can contribute to strengthening the EU..
